Craig Schuetze is a doctoral candidate in cultural anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the University of São Paulo. He is conducting field research in Brazil about the phenomenology of traffic, urbanism, and engineering. Motoboys, couriers who deliver everything from pizza to legal documents on small motorcycles, are his primary interlocutors. He holds a Chancellor’s Fellowship from the University of California, a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and a Foreign Language and Area Studies scholarship.
